Aaghaz-e-Dosti, an Indo-Pak Friendship initiative, aims to counter mutual hatred and suspicion. We believe that it is micommunication and lack of communication that has sustained the Indo-Pak conflict. So we through our initiatives that range from aman chaupal sessions in schools and colleges to writing articles, are trying to show the other side of the border that is often mis-representated on both sides.
One basic and important way to counter mutual hatred and suspicion is to establish people-to-people communication. Let them meet, let them talk, let them explore the other side to challenge the misconceptions.
To facilitate people-to-people communication, Aaghaz-e-Dosti has released city manuals for the cities that see most of the visitors from India/Pakistan. We have released the city manuals for Delhi, Mumbai, Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. The manuals carry important numbers and basic information about how to move around the city, where to shop, eat, which places to visit and travelling tips. The motive of this is to encourage and facilitate people to take the first step for friendship.
