AFTER 13 YEARS GODHRA RIOT VICTIMS STILL WAIT FOR JUSTICE
Thirteen years after the Godhra riots, a special SIT court in Himmatnagar in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district on Friday acquitted six persons for lack of evidence in a 2002 post-riots case, in which three British nationals and another person were killed by a mob.
Where slow trials and long legal procedures have plagued many victims there are some whose cases could not proceed in court or even be registered for lack of evidence.
In this situation, they are only left with blood-curdling memories and forever fresh pain.
