Azam Khan is doing more damage than any favour to his party
Does Azam Khan speak for himself, for entire Muslim community, for his party SP or somebody else's political interest?
Today in spite of complete difference of opinion with BJP or the PM nobody can support to the opinion as shared by Shri Azam Khan in interaction with media in Ghazipur that PM Shri Narendra Modi in his December visit to Lahore met Dawood a wanted criminal for his involvement in heinous crime against the country, this statement of Shri Azam Khan specifically mentioning this meeting is mischievous and unnecessary tries to deviate the political discourse in the country from the key issues of the country when threat of economic slowdown is looming large.
Even though this irresponsible statement from him primarily looks as political attack on PM and his party BJP, but knowingly or unknowingly Shri Azam Khan has given an opportunity to BJP to divert attention of the nation at this key moment when Budget session of Parliament is to happen and where this govt had to face some issues on which it looked clueless to tackle, so which party benefits politically from this recent political foray from Azam khan only time will tell.
Shri Azam Khan has been projected by the Samajwadi Party and its leadership as senior founding member of the party, key face of its Muslim core voter base and person who is among the few including party supremo Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav in taking key decisions of the party and for the government.
Shri Azam Khan's continuous foray of statements for the last few years since his party's govt took charge in UP has been consistently irresponsible and does not subscribe to his political stature as projected by Samajwadi Party, Further, this stature is tagged to his Muslim leader image nationwide by his party and media.
Whether it has been his trip to US and resultant abrupt return or his remarks on contribution of Muslims in Indian Army during 2014 Lok Sabha electioneering his consistency of irresponsibility as senior politician has been remarkable. Sometimes it seems he is doing more damage than any favour to his party by making such statements of high dose of rhetoric and lack of substantiality.
Shri Azam Khan unknowingly makes the minority political voice weak by such statements and resultant more strengthened Right wing forces. So a question looms large, does Azam Khan speaks for himself, for entire Muslim community, for his party SP or somebody else's political interest?
