Yechury demands that the contents of the Defence Framework Agreement with the United States be made public
New Delhi. CPI(M) General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury has addressed a letter to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar requesting that the contents of the Defence Framework Agreement with the United States be made public.
The text of the letter sent on July 3, 2015 is as follows-
Dear Shri Manohar Parrikar ji,
As the Defence Minister, you had signed the ten-year Defence Framework Agreement with the United States government on June 3, 2015. The reports about this agreement have also appeared in the media. However, the text of the agreement has so far not been made public.
Last time, such a Defence Framework Agreement was signed in June 2005.
At that time, the text of the agreement was available in the public domain within a few days.
Since this is an important agreement concerning defence and security ties, I request you to release the text of the agreement for public information.
