अब IIT कानपुर के विद्यार्थियों, कर्मचारी और शिक्षक समुदाय ने असहिष्णुता के विरोध में राष्ट्रपति को लिखा पत्र

नई दिल्ली। लेखकों, साहित्यकारों, इतिहासकारों, कलाकारों व वैज्ञानिकों के बाद अब आईआईटी कानपुर के 100 से अधिक पूर्व व वर्तमान विद्यार्थियों, कर्मचारी और शिक्षक समुदाय ने भारत में व्याप्त असहिष्णुता के विरोध में राष्ट्रपति को पत्र लिखकर असहिष्णुता फैलाने वाली शक्तियों को नियंत्रित करने की माँग की है।

हस्तक्षेप को आईआईटीकानपुर एल्युमनी के सदस्य डॉ.विजयानंनद शर्मा (Dr.V.N.Sharma) ने राष्ट्रपति को भेजे गए ज्ञापन की प्रति भेजी है, जिसे मूल रूप में यहाँ पोस्ट किया जा रहा है।

इस ज्ञापन में आईआईटी कानपुर से सम्बंधित पूर्व और वर्तमान विद्यार्थी, कर्मचारी और शिक्षक समुदाय की ओर से भारत में व्याप्त असहिष्णुता के विरोध में राष्ट्रपति से अपील की गयी है की वे प्रधानमंत्री और भारत सरकार को समुचित कदम उठाकर असहिष्णुता फैलानेवाली शक्तियों को नियंत्रित करें जो कि उनकी नैतिक और संवैधानिक जिम्मेवारी भी है.

Honourable President of the REPUBLIC OF INDIA,

We, the signatories to this representation, members of the IITK community (past and present) in different capacities, join the nationwide call of artists, scientists and various intellectuals who have been registering their protest against growing intolerance in India.

We wish to bring to your consideration our deep concern that the intolerance which led to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi is raising its ugly head once again. The murders of Shri Narendra Dabholkar, Shri Govind Pansare, Shri Malleshappa Kalburgi and Shri Mohammad Akhlaq, collectively are clear indicators of the threats to the freedom of expression, the right to propagate ones views, and the liberty to organize one’s personal life as citizens of this great nation of diversity, inclusiveness and tolerance. These calculated acts of violence are in fact collectively, attack on Reason itself, and attack on the secularism of India and as a result of this, have shaken public’s confidence in a secular and tolerant country that our great civilization has been recognized for all over the world.

If the forces that seek to perpetrate such heinous acts are not kept under check, the social fabric of India, we firmly believe, will be irreparably torn apart. We believe that it is the duty of the Government to respond immediately and take adequate measures to ensure that life and liberty of every citizen as guaranteed under the Constitution of our REPUBLIC is respected and maintained.

We therefore urge you, as the constitutional head of our country, to advise the Prime Minister and his Council of Ministers to discharge their duties by unequivocally denouncing this violence against both reason and humanity, and in future, ensure that the victimised communities and citizens feel safe and that perpetrators of heinous acts are promptly brought to justice in a fair and expeditious manner.
