नई दिल्ली, 21 नवंबर। राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने एक बार फिर दोहराया है कि भारतीय सभ्यता के मूल्यों को बचाने की जरूरत है।
राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि पूरी दुनिया में इस समय 'असहिष्णुता का माहौल' है और 'आधुनिक भारत की जटिल विविधता' में एकता लाने के लिए भारतीय सभ्यता के मूल्यों को सुदृढ़ करने की जरूरत है।
भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के विशेषज्ञों (इंडोलॉजिस्ट) के अपने तरह के पहले अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन करते हुए मुखर्जी ने कहा कि पूरी दुनिया इस समय जैसे घृणा के माहौल से जूझ रही है, ऐसा पहले कभी नहीं रहा।
मुखर्जी ने कहा, "इस समय हम ऐसी घटनाएं देख रहे हैं, जैसी पहले कभी नहीं हुईं। पूरी दुनिया जिस तरह के असहिष्णु एवं घृणा के माहौल से जूझ रही है, मानव इतिहास में ऐसा पहले कभी नहीं रहा।"
उन्होंने कहा, "इस तरह के मुश्किल समय में अपने सांस्कृतिक मूल्यों, लिखित एवं अलिखित संस्कारों, कर्तव्यों और भारतीय जीवनपद्धति को फिर से जीवित करना ही एकमात्र उपाय हो सकता है।"
राष्ट्रपति ने सम्मेलन में उपस्थित इंडोलॉजिस्ट से भारत के गौरवशाली प्राचीन इतिहास पर मात्र गर्व करते रहने की बजाय भारतीय बहुलतावाद एवं बहुसंस्कृतिवाद को पुनर्जीवित करने का आग्रह किया।
स्वामी विवेकानंद को उद्धृत करते हुए मुखर्जी ने कहा कि दुनिया को भारत से अभी भी एक सीख लेने की जरूरत है, और वह है सहिष्णुता और संवेदनशीलता की।
इस अवसर पर राष्ट्रपति ने जर्मनी के एमरिटस हेनरिख फ्रेहर वॉन स्टीएटेनक्रॉन को 'डिस्टिंग्विस्ट इंडोलॉजिस्ट अवार्ड' प्रदान किया।
तीन दिन तक चलने वाले इस सम्मेलन में चीन, रूस, श्रीलंका और भारत के 22 इंडोलॉजिस्ट्स हिस्सा ले रहे हैं।
