Adivasi school teacher turned politician, Soni Sori was attacked with acid near Kodenar in Bastar.
Sori was attacked when she was returning from Banjarin Ghati on Saturday night, reports ANI.
Sori has been admitted to Gidam hospital in Jagdalpur.
Soni was reportedly receiving several threats for her efforts for the upliftment of adivasis.
However, more details on the incident are awaited. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday condemned the attack on tribal activist and Aam Adami Party (AAP) leader Soni Sori where an acid like chemical was smeared on her face, saying that the Chhattisgarh Government needs to nab the culprits immediately.
"V painful. Whats happening everywhere? Hope she recovers fast. Chhattisgarh govt shud nab culprits immediately," Kejriwal tweeted.
Sori was attacked by three unidentified men in Chhattisgarh's Maoist-hit Dante Wada district yesterday night around 10:40 pm
Three youths on a motorcycle hurled the liquid at Sori's face following which the trio fled from the spot.
Even though the substance did not disfigure her face Sori suffered from a burning sensation.
A case has been registered in this connection and further investigation is underway.
