Bhim Singh bravos CJI’s veto for selecting judges by Union Govt.
New Delhi. Prof. Bhim Singh, a Sr. Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of State Legal Aid Committee besides being Chief Patron of National Panthers Party while addressing the members of the State Legal Aid Committee (advocates) at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi this afternoon congratulated Justice Tirath Singh, Chief Justice of India for demonstrating courage and judicial commitment to keep the Govt. off any interference into the appointment of judges by the Supreme Court collegium.
Prof.Bhim Singh said that Chief Justice Tirath Singh has followed Justice P.N. Bhagwati, a former Chief Justice of India to ensure that executive shall not interfere into the functioning of the judiciary under any circumstances and situations.
Prof. Bhim Singh said that Chief Justice of India, the first Dogra Chief Justice who was educated and appointed High Court judge in J&K has given a wonderful message to the Bench and the Bar that the executive shall never be allowed to interfere with the judicious working of the judges. Prof.Bhim Singh said that Justice Tirath Singh Thakur has conveyed this message to the members of the judiciary and the Bar that the Supreme Court cannot twist its interpretation so far as jurisprudence and rule of law is concerned.
Prof.Bhim Singh demanded that the draft Memorandum of Procedure (MoP) finalized by the Modi Government which was presented by Mrs.Sushma Swaraj to the Chief Justice of India should be made public so that the entire lawyers’ community is provided this information as to how Modi Government wants to interfere with the working of the Apex Court, the Supreme Court of India.
Prof. Bhim Singh also raised serious objections on other issues including setting up of Secretariats at the Supreme Court and the High Courts to monitor to coordinate all appointment related work with the the Union Government. Prof.Bhim Singh said that Indian Constitution does not flow from Marxism or totalitarian dictates but its procedure and dictates emerged from the rules of law as dictated by the provisions of the Constitution of India. No agency other than those which are working under the control of the Supreme Court of India can be allowed to function inside the Supreme Court, come what may.
Prof.Bhim Singh, a Barrister-at-Law who passed his Master of Laws Degree from the London University with distinction in 1972 emphasized that no one individual or a political party shall be allowed to interfere with the domain of the Constitution of India which forms the routes of Indian democracy even after its 66 years of history.
Prof.Bhim Singh announced that the State Legal Aid Committee shall host a national meeting in New Delhi in the third week of August to expose the Modi Government’s dangerous designs to scuttle democracy and grab fundamental rights.
