BJP oppose the appointment of Javeed Ahmad as DGP-a dangerous trend in politics
Centre for Objective Research and Development(CORD) in a joint statement of its Chairman,Prof. Ramesh Dixit and Director, Athar Husain has questioned the intention of BJP as premier political force of the country in issuing a statement where opposing the appointment of Javeed Ahmad as state police chief as to be part of vote bank politics by UP Govt.
Any appointment in police administration is the prerogrative of Govt of the day and there has been precedent where many officers has been superceded in DGP appointment earlier too, more recently when Shri Jagmohan Yadav was appointed he superceded 14 officers but BJP did not opposed that move. If it is only the religious belief of incumbent DGP that makes BJP oppose the appointment and talk of vote bank politics then BJP as premier political force of the country is making a dangerous trend in politics which should be condemned and opposed by every democratic individual and institution in the country.
As far as political influence of the post is concerned BJP has tradition of several ex DGP's joining it and representing in Parliament including Shri SC Dixit and Shri BP Singhal and more recently Shri Brij Lal so precedent spells out its stakes.
CORD wishes new DGP the best and hopes that those forces who reap rich political harvest at the cost of destruction of peace and amity of social fabric in the state should not raise there head and such forces will certainly oppose any move which hinders to their interest but incumbent DGP should not be bogged down with such deterrences and continue his job in the best interest of the state and the country.
