DO NOT MAKE COW PROTECTION COMMUNAL AND VIOLENT
DHARNA AT JANTAR MANTAR FROM 11 AM ON GANDHI JAYANTI DAY
New Delhi. World Council of Arya Samaj leader Swami Agnivesh has condemned in the strongest words the gruesome killing of 58 year old Mohammad Akhlaq by a mob claiming to be cow protectionists in the Bisera village of greater Noida in U.P.
Demanding a thorough probe to identify the elements who politicised and communalized the issue of cow protection that led to the violence, Swami Agnivesh said that nobody should be allowed to take law in to his hands. If the temple priests or anybody of the Bisera village had any evidence of killing cow / calf or if anybody had doubt that beef was being cooked in some household, the appropriate thing for them should have been to make a complaint to the nearest police station instead of inciting or leading a mob to somebody’s house and killing inmates over there.
Demanding immediate arrest and strictest punishment for the guilty, Swami Agnivesh said that Akhilesh government should take more proactive steps in preventing cow slaughter and illegal transportation of cows and at the same time BJP should stop playing communal politics in the name of cow.
He called upon people to join a dharna on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, at Jantar Mantar Road from 11 A.M. for declaring cow a national animal and implementing total prohibition in the country over a period of 5 years.
He said that on both the issues, enough awareness already exists among people and Modi govt. should take initiatives to implement article 47 (prohibition) and article 48 ( prevention of cow slaughter) of the constitution.
He also expressed hope that the movement on both the issues would remain totally non violent and within the constitutional limits.
