Chevrolet Spark Vs Hyundai Eon – The Battle of Small Cars
As the rivalry in the compact car segment grows with the passage of each day, the car buyers are happy and confused at the same time. While they are happy about the innumerable choices before them, they get confused about making the right choice. However, as information is available on fingertips during the current times, it can be used to gather information and make right decisions. As such, comparative study of the models in question can be employed as the best tool to arrive at a wise decision.
Here we are attempting to compare two of the most popular cars in the compact car segment, Chevrolet Spark and Hyundai Eon. A few parameters like price, engine details, mileage and other features like comfort, luxury and after sales services and the like are considered here.
Price – Undoubtedly the most important parameter in making a buying decision, pricing is of great significance. The Chevrolet Spark is available at a price ranging from INR 3.44 lakh to 3.99 lakh. Conversely, Hyundai Eon is priced between INR 2.83 lakh to 3.83 lakh. If price is the only constraint, Eon looks like a better choice.
Engine Capacity – The Chevrolet Spark runs on a 995 CC, 4-cylinder MPFI petrol engine, which is able to generate a maximum power of 62 BHP at 5400 RPM and a peak torque of 90.3 Nm at 4200 RPM. Alternatively, the Hyundai Eon runs on a 814 cc, 3-Cylinder MPFI Petrol Engine, capable of generating a maximum power of 55.2 BHP @ 5500 RPM and a top torque of 75 Nm @ 4000 RPM. Both cars offer five-speed manual transmission. However, it is evident from the figures that Spark is faster and more powerful than the Eon.
Mileage – Chevrolet Spark returns a mileage of 18 kmpl and Hyundai Eon mileage, 21.1 kmpl. Clearly, the Eon is more appealing in this parameter.
Other Features – Both cars offer almost identical safety and comfort features. However, on closer examination of facts, it becomes clear that Eon holds the slightest edge in terms of overall features as well. Additionally, when it comes to after sales service and service network, Hyundai seems to be better poised to serve the customers as they have the second largest service network in India after Maruti Suzuki.
Conclusion – In conclusion, it can be said that although the Chevrolet Spark has more powerful engine, looks attractive, offers decent mileage and rides well, the Eon offers more features, is cheaper, offer better mileage, has better service networks and is more compact. Therefore, it can be said that after a detailed evaluation of facts and figures, the Hyundai Eon seems to be a better option when compared to the Chevrolet Spark.
