Centre for Objective Research and Development through a joint statement of its Charman Professor Ramesh Dixit and Director Athar Husain has condemned the stand of NDA Govt at Centre where Ministry of Culture through Solicitor General has told the Supreme Court that Kohinoor the Diamond was given to British as gift so there is no claim by Sovereign Indian State on that Diamond.
This submission by Ministry of Culture is horrendous and completely negate the sacrifices made by lakhs of nationalist Indians in getting freedom.
The historical context when the then Governor General Dalhousie who got the diamond from Maharaja Ranjit SIngh after 1849 Treaty was a forceful acquistion rather a gift as inerpreted by various historians.
Today's submission in Supreme Court by none other then Ministry of Culture is like giving sanctity to India's subjugation under Britrish, CORD demands Mr Mahesh Sharma to respond and give reasons as to why his Ministry has made such submission in Supreme Court which has hurt the nationalist sentiments of 1.30 Billion Indians.
There has been instances of British subjugation on Indian psyche from the presence of Major Hodson grave placed in high honour at La Martiniere College Campus, Lucknow who was brutal murderer of the family of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the Emperor who was figurehead of our first Battle of INDEPENDENCE, and of course presence of Kohinoor as asset of British Royalty, CORD appeals to British authorities to take back the remains of Major Hodson to Britain and return the Kohinoor to India and this will go a long way to address the issue of sense of pride to those Indians who feel distressed at the thought of India's subjugation to Britain for almost two centuries.
