Delhi Assembly polls : Socialist Party’s first list of constituencies
The Socialist Party Delhi Pradesh, in its meeting held today, decided to participate in the coming Delhi Legislative Assembly polls. In the first round, the party has identified 12 constituencies to field its candidates. The constituencies identified are as follows : Trilok Puri, Mandawali, Vishwas Nagar, Patpar Ganj, Seelampur, Okhla, Badarpur, Rajendra Nagar, Matia Mahal, Chandni Chowk, Balli Maran and Nangloi Jat. The names of the party candidates contesting from these seats will be announced soon. In the coming month the party will announce some more constituencies to be contested.
It was decided that in its election campaign, the party will oppose privatization, including Public Private Partnership (PPP), of the civic services like electricity, water, education and health. These essential services must be kept under the government rule. In the party’s view, the expenses on these services cannot be reduced and quality cannot be improved if they are placed in the hands of profit hungry private companies. ‘No to privatization in any form’ will be the main election plank of the Socialist Party.
As the law and order situation in Delhi has become deplorable, the Socialist Party will also raise the issue of citizens’ security, particularly of women, children and senior citizens.
The party’s Delhi State president Renu Gambhir presided over and national general secretary Dr. Prem Singh conducted the meeting.
