Kolkata, 6 December. Today West Bengal State Committee organised a public session in support of democracy, peace and harmony at Shaheed Minar Prangan, Kolkata.
CPI-M General Secretary Comrade Sitaram Yechury, West Bengal State Secretary Comrade Surjya Kanta Mishra, Polit Bureau member Comrade Md Salim addressed the gathering.
Speakers said, “The demolition of Babri Masjid was attack on the secular and democratic fabrics of the country. Even in that point of time, Comrade Jyoti Basu led Left front Government safeguarded the people of West Bengal from the communal hatred and religious polarisation.
When the the country was witnessing black day, Bengal stood tall and unfurled the message of peace and religious harmony.
And we still stand tall and remain committed to resist the divisive agenda of BJP-TMC nexus.”
They reiterated that in the secular democratic set-up ordained in the Constitution, the way to resolve the matter is through the judicial process. We must remember this day so that history doesn't repeat itself. So that fight for secular, democratic nation can be continued.
