The Akali leader from Punjab, Master Tara Singh asked Hinduo KO Hindustan Mila aur Musalmano KO Pakistan mila. Sikho KO Kya Mila. He had been answered in 1984 with the countrywide Sikh Genocide.
Dr BR Ambedkar or Jogendranath Mandal or any tribal leader did not ask any questions.
Babasaheb and Mahapran Mandal realised that the partition was inevitable as the British Government accepted the cabinet proposal in agreement with Congress and Muslim League.
Of course, the cabinet commission met Baba Saheb twice but it sought no proposal from Babasaheb. Neither there was any public hearing. Sikhs and Adivasi people were not considered at all. Neither Baba Saheb nor Jogendranath Mandal, Dalits, Sikhs, Adivasi or Bahujan Samaj or Indian peasantry united at the time in the Tebhaga movement with a legacy of continuous insurrections, revolts, uprisings and movements, could have intervened in the ultimate process of partition.
The maiden speech by Dr BR Ambedkar in the constituent Assembly this grievance set the tune. He described the nation economically, socially and politically divided and pointed out that the warring camps were sitting together to decide the framework of the Indian Constitution.
However, in his maiden speech, Babasaheb addressed the Hindu-Muslim problem in detail. He spoke of reconciliation, negotiation, unity and peace.
Last night I posted the last speech of Mahapran Jogendra Nath Mandal which quoted his leader Dr Ambedkar's stand on the partition. I wanted to have a discussion with Dr Teltumbde and I called him. We discussed this in detail. This discussion was followed by a document posted by Dr Teltumbde. It is the maiden speech of Dr Ambedkar in the constituent assembly.
Earlier we circulated Teltumbde's article published in EPW, IN THY NAME, and Ambedkar on our blogs on Hastakshep.
We immediately published the maiden speech of Babasaheb in the constituent assembly. The speech emphasized remedies while fundamental rights were invaded as there left no provision to obtain redress.
Babasaheb insisted of political and economic justice and declared that without SOCIALISM, we might not achieve this objective of social and economic justice.
