Lucknow. A National Seminar On Youth, Ethics And Politics In Profession was organized by the Department of Sociology, University of Lucknow on 23-24 September, 2015.
In the inaugural function Prof. Sushma Yadav, Political Scientist from JNU and the present Pro Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi in her keynote address said that youth should be asked a question if they do not want to enter into politics because politics is bad then who will govern? In fact politics is not bad, people talk about politics but they do not try to understand politics. Further, today youth are taking interest in politics because it is an easy way to get money, power and luxury. It is the easiest and fastest growing profession. Like an any other profession today it is difficult to leave with politics.
Dr. S B. Nimse, V.C. Lucknow University in his presidential address said India is the largest country of youth and it is the largest smoothly maintained democratic state. Politics is creating leadership, students must do good politics i.e., they should develop argument power and not muscles power.
Prof. Ram Ganesh Yadav, Director Seminar said that politics has been since long persuaded as a profession which yields power and excise authority. But some how in recent years there has been a deterioration of ethics and values in politics. Therefore the youth are not able to find a proper path to enter into politics and accept it as a profession. The Indian society is facing a big challenge from the youth as it is the largest society of the youth having about fifty crores population under 25 years of age. There has to be some ethical and constructive approach to solve the problems of the youth.
. Prof. Sukant Chaudhury, Organizing Secretary said that today’s youth have better values i.e. humanitarian values which are non-exploitative, non-feudal, and democratic and egalitarian in nature. Today values are not deteriorated rather they are being transformed in to better values. We must convey the success stories of politics as a career to the youth and not scams and mishaps, which happens in every field. Ms .Pratibha Raj ,Deptt of Sociology gave the vote of thanks.
