Com. P. K. Vasudevan Nair and Com. Sharda Mitra were among the pioneers of Youth movement in India. Com. PKV was the founder Vice President and Com. Sharda Mitra was the founder General secretary of All India Youth Federation in (AIYF) in 1959 along with Balraj Sahni as the founder President. Later, PKV became one of the top left leaders and also Chief Minister of Kerala. Com. Sharda Mitra was th international youth leader. He was the Vice President of World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY). He came to India and organized youth of the country towards socialist goals. He was an intellectual relentless fighter on ground.
S. P. Shukla served as Member, Planning Commission, Secretary of Finance, Secretary of Commerce, etc but he is better known as an exceptional IAS who never compromised with what he thought correct and never succumbed to any pressure. He was the key person to negotiate on behalf of third world countries in Uruguay round of WTO. The staunch supporter of socialist and democratic values, he went to many villages to make people understand the plight, oppression and disparities WTO was bringing with it. He brought all likeminded forces together as the Convenor of Anti WTO National Campaign in 1991. Actively engaged in the fight for a just and human world, which is nothing else but a socialist world, he is presently the President of Joshi-Adhikari Institute of Social Studies, Chairperson of Centre for Policy Analysis and President of National Campaign Committee.
Prof. Arjun Dev is an eminent historian. He was a Professor of History in NCERT and has authored many books. He has been associated with “Towards Freedom” project and became the Coordinator after its revival in 2005. In addition to being a profound scholar of History, Prof. Arjun Dev also has a background of being an activist in1950s when he was a student and the spirit of activism continues till date. His work in the area of curriculum development and preparation of educational material is highly revered.
