" Is PM Narendra Modi Emerging as World Leader ? "
After declaration of the results of last 2014 Lok Sabha elections , when BJP led by Narendra Modi fathomed to seize power at the center and it became became certain that Narendra Modi will be now Prime Minister of India , for the first time in history of Indian democracy , Narendra Modi invited heads of neighboring countries like Nepal , Bangla Desh , Afghanistan , Pakistan and Sri Lanka to be guests in his swearing in ceremony . This gesture had given first sign of his future foreign policy. We all know that this unusual invitation had sent a strong message across the world that India respect its neighboring countries . Likewise just after assuming power at center the first economic giant step which PM Modi took was to announce and launch Jan Dhan Yojna with two particular motives . first to popularize the banking system among most deprived masses and second to give a chance to banking sector to serve India's remote rural areas. It had another message which has been often over looked. The government sent the message that its future policies will be agrarian and rural oriented.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked upon his foreign tours, he began them not by visiting most powerful country of world America but Nepal indicating that he want equal respectful relations with neighboring as well developed nations . Then he visited number of countries including USA, UK, Australia and Japan. Everywhere he was accorded unprecedented welcome and people particularly the NRI Indians thronged his meetings. According to one western political analyst, “no other leader in world has received such a warm welcome on foreign shores as Narendra Modi . Above all the calculations of diplomatic gains, this has popularized the face of PM Narendra Modi so much so that Time magazine was forced to put him on its cover.
It will be appropriate to recall another important but forgotten event and that is when PM Narendra Modi addressed the United Nation's meeting in Hindi, the gathering had heard in pin drop silence without any murmur on the language . In a way Hindi ruled in UN on that day.
Remember World Yoga Day, why it was not organized on global level earlier ? Because our earlier leaders never tried to cash on that. PM Narendra Modi forced the world nations to acknowledge importance of Yoga and he succeeded. Whole world practiced Yoga on that day. In this way Narendra Modi succeeded in bringing Indian culture on global horizon without any big effort.
On the other hand just analyze the post Gujarat -2002 genocide days . Narendra Modi as Chief Minister of Gujarat was most hated man. The USA did not issue him Visa. In fact it was a humiliated moment for country when USA refused Visa to Chief Minister of an Indian State. He was targeted from every possible angle and in every forum.
Toady India is a proud country as its Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot be ignored or over looked in any world forum or organization. it seems that he has traveled a long way from Gujarat 2002 to be one of the most respected leader in world . Recently Saudi Arabia has bestowed upon him its highest civilian award " The King Abdulaziz Sash ' . This is very important because Saudi Arabia is not just another country . Muslims of whole world have emotional relations with it and honoring our Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Custodian of Two holy Mosques has a special significance .
Considering all these positive and negative sides, Forum for Muslim Studies & Analysis ( FMSA ), Aligarh has held a ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ on " Is Narendra Modi Is Emerging as World Leader " at Media Center Aligarh on Wednesday, 13 April 2016 at 11.00 a.m onward.
