Kejriwal-LG Jung on appointment of acting Chief Secretary
New Delhi, May 16 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday wrote a letter to Lieutenant General Najeeb Jung trying to end the ongoing row about the appointment of acting Chief Secretary.

Kejriwal wrote- “I would request & urge you to remain within confines of constitution and the laws relating to Govt of NCT of Delhi. You are holding a constitutional post. Whatever be the political pressures, you have a duty to uphold the constitution”, wrote Kejriwal.
In response the LG’s office issued statements saying- “It is reiterated that the Lt. Governor has acted fully conscious of his duties & responsibilities under Constitution of India. Till date not a single action taken by the Lt. Governor’s Secretariat is in non-confirmity with the provisions of the Constitution. In the instant case, the Hon’ble CM was duly consulted on file and the relevant note-sheet is in public domain. Delay on the part of the Hon’ble CM of over 40 hours necessitated a direction from the Lt. Governor that orders be issued.
It is a given that the office of the Chief Secretary cannot be left vacant. The Chief Secretary is required not just for normal work but for any emergency that may come up. Lt. Governor’s Secretariat regrets insinuation against respected senior civil servant.
