Khedut Chetna Yatra (Farmers’ Awareness Yatra) ends at Mithi Virdi Farmers resolve to fight it out on the land bill and other issues
The newly elected NDA government changed the as yet unimplemented LARR Act 2013 through an ordinance and dealt a betrayal to the farmers. The Khedut Chetna Yatra, which had set out with the objective of mobilising farmers against the anti-farm policies of the present government, ended today at the site of the proposed nuclear power plant at Mithi Virdi. The 5,000 strong gathering was addressed by several farmer leaders, Chandubhai Shingala, Dahyabhai Gajera, Sagar Rabari, Jayesh Patel, Rameshbhai Virani, Manubhai Chavda, Rajubhai Solanki, Manibhai Sanghvi and many others.
The meeting focussed on issues like land acquisition and opposition to the ordinance, SIR Act, Irrigation and Drainage Act, fair prices for farm products and other issues facing farming and agriculture.
