Anarchy in Presidency Campus as Mamata posts Selfies against BLACK FLAGS!
JADAVPUR, FTII Repeated!
Police Thrashed students in PRESIDENCY!
In another rare show of students’ protest, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was shown black flags at the esteemed Presidency University during the convocation ceremony on Friday.
Students showing placards, black flags and shouting slogans like’ Presidency does not welcome you CM’ and ‘You are not welcome CM’ gheraoed the state education minister Partha Chatterjee for several minutes ahead of the Chief Minister’s arrival at the university.
Chatterjee had to enter the venue of the event through the Derozio Building instead. The CM however entered amidst tight security and heavy deployment of police personnel.
While she was leaving for another event in the neighbouring Calcutta University to attend their 125th anniversary celebration of Calcutta University Institute, she was again shown black flags.
Agitators raised slogans like, ‘We have not forgotten what happened on April 2 and 10’ and ‘We want justice’.
It was on April 2, 2013, when SFI leader Sudipta Gupta died allegedly in police custody after a protest rally. In the same year, on April 10, a procession led by Trinamool Congress supporters barged into the premises of the Presidency University and ransacked the laboratory.
The agitating students demanded an impartial probe into the two cases.
Later, the students started gheraoing the university vice chancellor Anuradha Lodhia till the last reports came in.

Presidency University: Students greet Mamata Banerjee with black flags
As Mamata Banerjee entered the campus to attend the inaugural ceremony of Presidency’s third convocation at Derozio Hall, she was greeted with placards and wall writing which stated that the CM was not welcome.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was on Friday greeted with slogans and black flags at Presidency University by a section of students, who later gheraoed Vice-Chancellor Anuradha Lohia, while alleging that they were manhandled by the CM’s security team.
As Mamata entered the campus to attend the inaugural ceremony of Presidency’s third convocation at Derozio Hall, she was greeted with placards and wall writing which stated that the CM was not welcome. As the students locked the main gate of the college, state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee had to take a taxi to leave the campus through the back gate.
While speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Mamata said: “Do I have to be accountable why I have come here? They have invited me. Why shouldn’t I go (to the campus)? There is no reason to think that everyone should like me. But why won’t I come?”
Without naming the students, she said: “There is a word called courtesy in a democracy. Everyone has to maintain discipline.” Later, Mamata walked out of the university and reached Calcutta University Institute Hall on College Street. She also tweeted in the meantime, saying: “Since I was associated with students movement in the past, I respect students movement, I support their genuine cause… political purpose should not stand in the way… institutions are above everything.”
