Three passengers were off loaded by the Air India to accommodate the State Minister for Home .Rijuji .An .Air India flight was delayed for the Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadanvis.
The media have launched a vigorous campaign against the so called VIP culture in favor of what they call 'the common man' forcing the Civil Aviation Minister to apologize.Their taking up the cudgels on behalf of the air passengers who had fallen a victim to the 'VIP culture' was fair in itself , but not their contention that the victims were 'common men '.
In the context of India, it was a case of the privileged men falling a prey to the VIP culture. The media itself belong to the privileged class and cried foul because it identified with the victims who were one of the privileged. The media, too, represent the VIP culture which is evident from their unabashed blindness to the inhuman condition in which the real common man of India travels in the Second Class (there is no lower class ) in the train.
For the privileged media they, ( the real common man) are too contemptible to deserve their attention. The truth is that the conduct of the mainstream media is treason against the common man of the country, and if democracy is for the people, then it is also against democracy itself. They are part of the nexus which has hijacked democracy and has been contributing to its emaciation. Despite their condemnible conduct, their freedom must remain unmolested so that someday when they wake up ,they may do their duty to democracy and the nation. Let us hope they wake up soon.
