Media blacks out – Gang Rape and murder of Dalit Minor girl in Odisha

New Delhi. On 22 May 2015 morning, a Dalit minor girl Nirbhaya (Name changed) (15 years) went missing after she went to the river for bathing in Sargipali village, Khaprakhol block, Balangir, Odisha.

Next day late afternoon, her brutally violated and mutilated body was found 50 metres away from where she was picked.

Till now, not a single arrest has been made.

Coordination Committee Against Caste and Gender Violence, Balangir said in a statement, “For more than a decade, Khaprakhol block has been a laboratory ofcaste terror of all kinds, while the perpetrators are given unprecedented impunity. Nirbahaya’s gang rape and brutal murder is the latest in the long list of caste atrocities spreading unabated in the region.”
