In politics, it is normal to brag, show off 56- inch chest and do even more to beat political opponents, but not at the cost of the nation.
Modi’s bragging and bravado is costing us blood of our fine soldiers and lives of our citizens living near the Line of Control in J &K.
He ordered our soldiers to cross the LoC ,attack a camp of terrorists and kill them. 18 of them were killed and he and his party pompously claimed that it was a 'Surgical Strike ' never done before by the weak Congress or UPA government.
No dispute on the claim, but the people are wondering why he did it ?
What has the country gained?
Has it frightened Pakistan into changing its policy?
Has Pakistan stopped its policy of sending terrorists to attack our military establishments?
Has it stopped cease fire violations?
The very opposite has happened. The border had remained peaceful for the last 13 years without a formal agreement, but now violations have soared sky high.
More than 100 violations have happened since Uri.
Hundreds of villages near the LoC/border have been vacated causing untold suffering to their inhabitants, who had to leave their homes in the cold winter. They are not only facing the a hard life but also death by firing by Pakistan.
And now the latest but not the last is the terrorist attack on the military establishments in J &K in which seven of our Jawans and a Major have been killed and eight security men including a DIG of the BSF have been injured.
If this goalless policy continues, there would be more deaths and destruction for nothing.
Modi's Surgical Strike has resulted in compelling Pakistan's military to act to show to its own people that it is more than a match for India and to match Modi's bragging by its own.
Sharif, the then Armed Forces Chief of Pakistan, bragged that if Pakistan undertook a surgical strike several generations of Indians would not forget it.
It was only to match Modi brigade's boasting.
Both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers and know that they cannot fight to the finish unless they go mad and invite self-annihilation.
This ding dong battle of death and destruction on both sides without any positive gain to the country is mindless and meaningless and against national interest.
This death and destruction invited for petty political gains is an unpardonable crime against the people and the nation and must stop.
So, should the bragging for political gains lest it should involve us in an unintended war leading to more deaths and destruction than we have already suffered or can imagine.
