Hereby, Tripura Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Burman on Monday alleged that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar holds association with various chit fund companies and demanded a CBI probe into the Ponzi scams in Tripura.
The Congress has accused Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar of providing land at subsidized rates to Rose Valley for setting up an amusement park in Agartala.
Two days after Sarkar's denial of his association with Rose Valley and other non-banking financial companies (NBFC), leader of the opposition, Sudip Roy Barman, on Friday released the land documents of the park.
"The Rose Valley Park was built in 16.5 hectares of land in Agartala. The government provided them half of the land at a cheaper price and allowed another half to be encroached," alleged Roy Barman alleged. He said the land which was encroached by Rose Valley belonged to tribals.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, on Monday sent a notice to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) seeking income and expense details from the party during 2010-14, which includes donations, advertisements, sale of party mouthpiece 'Jaago Bangla' and “sale of paintings”. According to media reports, the notice is sent to the TMC's national general secretary Subrata Bakshi through a speed post, asking him to reply within seven days.
The development comes days after West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamamta Banerjee had expressed her strong displeasure over the CBI's phone call to TMC Bhavan here.
According to reports, the notice has been served under Section 91 (summons to produce document or other thing) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Reacting to this, Trinamool secretary general Partha Chatterjee said the party would reply if it saw the notice.
On the other hand, Tripura Opposition leader Sudip Roy Burman on Monday accused the Manik Sarkar government in the state of shielding Rose Valley Company, whose chairman is now in judicial custody here in connection with an Enforcement Directorate probe.
“The Manik Sarkar government did not specify the amount of money involved in the scam while writing to the CBI to probe the Rose Valley Group in 2013, only to ensure that it was not investigated,” Tripura Opposition leader Sudip Roy Burman alleged while speaking to the media here.
The Congress leader claimed that the state government had written to the CBI following a clamour over the activities of several Ponzi fund companies operating in Tripura.
This was done, Burman claimed, only after the Saradha chit fund scam came to light and the Assam government sue motto sought a CBI probe into the scam there.
“The state government had conducted raids on the offices of some such companies, including Rose Valley, but took little action,” Burman alleged.
The companies were allowed time to wind up operations in the state and flee, thus leaving lakhs of hapless investors in the lurch, Burman claimed.
“Tripura chief minister and other ministers have been present at functions of Rose Valley Group and various other chit fund companies,” he alleged, adding that Sarkar was also present at the launch of Saradha Group’s newspaper in the state.
He alleged that chit fund companies had flourished whenever the Left Front was in power in the state.
“Democracy is being throttled in Tripura and it is a one- man show there,” Burman said.

As the CBI prepares to file a fresh charge sheet in the Saradha chit fund scam, it plans to question ousted Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy again. Top sources said Roy attended Saradha group meetings at "someone's instance". During his previous examination in January, Roy had told CBI that "he had done nothing wrong".
