New Delhi, 20 Jan. Socialist Party, one month ago, applied for a free symbol under Para 10 B for its candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. The election process is already started and the party has not yet got the symbol. A written complaint about this delay was made to the Chief Election Commissioner of India on 20 January 2017.

Spokesperson and general secretary, Dr. Abhijit Vaidya said,

“Socialist Party will hold a demonstration against this harassing and anti-democratic attitude of the Election Commission at its Delhi and Lucknow offices on 24 January 2017 at 2 pm. Party’s national president Dr. Prem Singh, senior member Justice Rajindar Sachar, parliamentary board chairman Girish Pandey, national vice president Mohmmad Shoaeb, orgnising secretary Faisal Khan, president of UP unit Janki Prasad Gaur, president of Delhi unit Renu Gambhir, candidates contesting UP Assembly election, president of Socialist Yuvjan Sabha (SYS) Niraj, along with many party leaders and workers will participate in the demonstration.”
